We sent Kyle to bed early one night because he had been very naughty at the grocery store (he had run away from both Beth and Me, and had caused us both to have to go running after him). After a few minutes in bed, Kyle slunk into the room where we were watching TV. When we told him to go back to bed, he said,
“Can I ask you a question?”
We said, “yes.”
“If I’m lost in the woods, and there’s a scary dinosaur trying to get me, who will come save me?”
“I will,” Beth said.
At that, Kyle went back to bed.
As Midnight Oil once asked, “if the sugar refining company won’t save me, who’s going to save me?”
…And Max sailed back home through the weeks, and days to his very own room to wear his dinner was waiting for him.
…and it was still hot.
